The Rode VideoMic GO II ultracompact shotgun microphone is a drastic departure from the original VideoMic GO, with major improvements to the body, shockmount, cable, and other components. It provides video content creators, run-and-gun filmmakers, voiceover artists, and podcasters with the sound of the well recognized NTG shotguns in a compact camera-mount mic that is compatible with cameras, portable recorders, iOS and Android mobile devices, and USB-equipped PCs. Use the VideoMic GO II as a classic shotgun mic for your DSLR or as a digital microphone by connecting it to your smartphone, tablet, or laptop using the separately available connections; in either case, it provides concentrated directivity, low noise, and isolation from extraneous vibrations. When used as a USB microphone, the 3.5mm socket provides a headphone output for monitoring the live signal or playback from your host device. Because the mic operates on plug-in or USB power and without controls or switches, it is simple and quick to use.
Technology Ported from the VideoMic NTG
The VideoMic GO II's body has acoustic holes rather than the linear slots seen in shotgun microphones. This annular line tube technology was adapted from Rode's VideoMic NTG to provide clarity and a natural, uncolored sound.
Directional Sound Pickup
The VideoMic GO II uses a supercardioid polar pattern to focus on the sound in front of it while attenuating noises from the sides and back. Its low-noise circuitry and sensitive condenser element produce more detailed audio than microphones commonly used in cameras and portable recorders.
TRS Camera Connection
A detachable 3.5mm TRS cable is included to conveniently connect your camera. The connection is connected in a dual-mono format, which ensures that the VideoMic GO II microphone signal is supplied to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder. The rope is both short and flat, making it easy to maintain neat.
Full USB Microphone Functionality
Connect the VideoMic GO II to your computer, smartphone, or tablet via USB and use it as a digital USB microphone for direct recording to your preferred software. Its built-in analog-to-digital converter runs at 24-bit / 48 kHz for full-resolution, uncompressed audio quality.
